<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"On April 24, the Diplomatic Club \u2013 Skopje and UACS, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of the Republic of North Macedonia, organized an international conference titled \u201cThe Importance of Geography in Shaping the Foreign Policy and National Security\u201d. The event marked several milestones: Macedonian Diplomacy Day (April 29), 20 years of UACS, 15 years of the Diplomatic Club, and 10 years of the Diplomatic Chronicle journal.<\/p>\n
The conference opened with a keynote address by Mr. Zoran Dimitrovski, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade of North Macedonia, who emphasized that the conference’s topic has been unjustifiably marginalized until now.<\/p>\n
Keynote speakers included Dr. Riccardo Redaelli, Professor of Geopolitics at Universit\u00e0 Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, and Dr. Scott Romaniuk, Researcher and Professor at Corvinus University in Budapest. They were joined by prominent Macedonian diplomats and academics: Sanja Zografska, Prof. Dr. Nikola Dujovski, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Goran Kitevski, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dancho Markovski. The Speakers explored theoretical and practical aspects of geography\u2019s influence on geopolitics, highlighting how terrain, climate, natural resources (including rare minerals), maritime access, and demographics impact foreign policy and security decisions, with the urgency of the topic emphasized in light of ongoing geopolitical tensions over resource access, geostrategic locations, and shifts in global relations.<\/p>\n
The conference was attended by members of the diplomatic corps in Skopje, Diplomatic Club members, UACS faculty and students, and other guests.<\/p>\n
