On\u00a0March 10, 2025<\/strong>, the\u00a0UACS School of Political Science<\/strong>\u00a0had the honor of hosting\u00a0Prof. Dr. Vello Pettai<\/strong>, Director of the\u00a0European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI)<\/strong>, for an insightful guest lecture on\u00a0“EU Enlargement and National Minorities.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the lecture, Prof. Dr. Pettai provided an in-depth analysis of the challenges and opportunities related to\u00a0national minorities in the context of EU expansion<\/strong>. Drawing from his extensive experience in comparative politics and post-communist transitions, he highlighted key policy considerations for minority rights, the role of international frameworks, and the historical lessons from the Baltic region.<\/p>\n

Attendees, including students, faculty, and guest participants, engaged in a dynamic discussion, exploring topics such as\u00a0ethnic politics, democratization, and transitional justice<\/strong>.
