This year\u2019s\ncompetition will honor the English writer Anne Sewell (1820-1878) on the\noccasion of her 200<sup>th<\/sup> birthday. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We would like to invite English teachers from\nthe secondary schools to participate in this event with their students. The competition\nis open to third and fourth-year secondary-school students who can apply to read\nand share with their fellow students an excerpt from Anne Sewell\u2019s only novel <em>Black Beauty<\/em>. <\/strong>Free on-line complete\ntext of Sewell\u2019s novel <em>Black Beauty <\/em>(1877),\nwhich is considered one of the best top ten selling novels for children and\nyoung adults ever written, can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalgreyebooks.com\/black-beauty-ebook.html\">https:\/\/www.globalgreyebooks.com\/black-beauty-ebook.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The event will take place on 19 March, 2020\nat 12:00, at UACS premises. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Each English teacher can participate with up\nto two students as two separate contestants. This year we will not accept group\nparticipants\/contestants.<\/strong> In case there are more than 25 applicants, a\nselection will be made to include at least one participant from as many schools\nand cities as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the\nmentorship of their teacher, each student can read an excerpt which should not\nexceed three minutes (300-400 words). All interested teachers\/mentors and\nstudents should register and send their applications and excerpt proposals in\none word document (See the application form and the proposal form in attachment\nto the Call where you can also find the general rules, the scale of marks and\nthe criteria. <strong>In case of more than one\ncontestant, a new application form and excerpt proposal should be sent)<\/strong> to <a href=\"mailto:readingcompetition@uacs.edu.mk\">readingcompetition@uacs.edu.mk<\/a>\n<strong>by the 13 March, 2020. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Special jury will award First, Second and\nThird Prize.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The three best participants\/groups of\nparticipants will receive certificates, tuition discounts at UACS, and valuable\nbook awards from our sponsors.
