have the honour of inviting you to the guest lecture\nof <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Benjamin Perks, MSc, UNICEF\nRepresentative and Resident Coordinator ad interim of the United Nations to the\nRepublic of North Macedonia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Emerging\nscience on child development and how it influences policy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Thursday 14 March 2019, 11:30 \u2013 12:30 at UACS, room A1<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr.\nBenjamin Perks<\/strong> is the UNICEF Representative and Resident Coordinator ad\ninterim of the United Nations to the Republic of North Macedonia. In both\ncapacities he advocates for reforms to fulfil international human rights\ncommitments and realization of the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In his personal capacity,\nhe is a Senior Fellow at the Jubilee Centre at the University of Birmingham in\nthe UK, which researches and advises on education policy related to development\nof character social and emotional skills in children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He is also Chair of the\nRegional Advisory Group on Violence Against Children which promotes reforms in\nsupport of primary prevention and response in 21 countries in Europe and\nEastern Asia. He was previously the UNICEF Representative to Montenegro, and\nhas also served in Georgia, Kosovo, Afghanistan, India and Albania. In\nAfghanistan he helped to coordinate the \u201cBack to School campaign\u201d in the\ncountry which brought 3 million children, including 1 million girls, into\nschool-most of them for the first times in their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He holds a Master\u2019s\nDegree in International Relations from the University of Kent at Canterbury and\nhas recently completed a mid-career programme with the Harvard Graduate School\nof Education on Leadership and Education Reform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lecture open to the public.
